WARNING
The TI does not have a friction brake. Use caution when
releasing the force applied to the TI. The force applied must be
released carefully in both cw and ccw directions.
(1) Exercise TI as follows:
(a) Set anti-wind-up knob on TI to CW.
Turn pull handle cw to obtain an
approximate full-scale indication on TI.
WARNING
The anti-rotation assembly may not hold at high torques. If so,
the wrench will need an adjustment to the tensioning screw to
restore operation of the anti-rotation mechanism. On the
opposite side of the assembly from the anti-wind-up knob, there
is a small set screw inset in the housing. Advance the screw
clockwise to reduce slippage of the anti-wind-up knob. If over
tightened, the knob may be difficult to advance to either the cw
or ccw setting, and the set screw will have to be rotated
counterclockwise slightly. Adjust the set screw until the anti-
wind-up knob can be moved smoothly, but holds at all torques
up to full-scale
NOTE
In order to set the anti-wind-up knob from cw to ccw a small
amount of cw force will need to be applied.
(b) Set anti-wind-up knob on TI to CCW. Slowly release pull handle ccw to
obtain a 0 indication on TI.
(c) Repeat (a) and (b) above two times.
WARNING
Do not apply torque while zeroing.
(d) Check TI for a 0 indication on TI, press ZERO pad if necessary.
(2) Press the F4 key on the force/torque indicator until the →0← soft key is
displayed. Press the →0← soft key to zero force/torque indicator.
