(2) Adjust micrometer thimble as necessary to obtain a measurement of the ball
diameter. Press the Zero/ABS button to establish a 0.00000 inch indication. (If necessary
press IN/mm button to select IN units.)
(3) Repeat (1) and (2) above for points B, C, D, and E. Verify that the five readings
have a maximum difference of less than 0.0001 inch.
(4) Reset micrometer to increase the anvil sufficiently to replace ball micrometer
tester small ball with large ball (0.250 inch) and repeat (1) through (3) above.
b. Adjustments. No adjustments can be made.
9. Length Measurement Accuracy
a. Performance Check
(1) Rotate the friction thimble until surface of spindle and anvil face make gentle
contact. Press the Zero/ABS button to establish a 0.00000 inch indication.
(2) Measure the first gage block listed in table 3. TI digital readout will indicate
(3) Repeat (2) above for remaining rows in table 3, wringing recommended gage
blocks together when required.
NOTE
Recheck and re-zero as necessary if TI fails to meet limits
