button or operate hand crank, if applicable. The meter pointer should remain over the
infinity (∞) position on the scale. Proceed to step h below.
c. Check the TI for zero (0) ohms with the test leads connected to the negative (-) and
positive (+) terminals and the ends shorted together. Select an appropriate MΩ range and
energize the TI. When the Test button is pressed or hand crank is operated, if applicable,
the pointer should not be more than 0.035 inches away from zero (0).
d. Check the TI for infinite resistance. With the test leads connected to the negative (-)
and positive (+) terminals, twisted together and the ends separated by 3 inches or more,
select the highest voltage range and energize the TI.
e. When the TI TEST button is pressed or hand crank is operated, if applicable, the
pointer should not be more than 0.035 inches from infinity (∞).
f. If the TI fails the infinity test, repeat test without the leads connected. If the TI now
passes, replace leads.
g. Repeat steps c through e above for all remaining ranges.
h. Set TI Range switch to one of the MΩ ranges.
a. Performance Check
(1) Connect TI positive (+) and negative (-) terminals to the Calibrator OUTPUT
terminals, observing polarity.
(2) Set the calibrator controls to the first applied value listed in table 3 below, and
set OPR/STBY switch to OPR.
(3) Edit the calibrator voltage until TI display indicates the value in the
Calibrator Output column of table 3 below.
(4) The calibrator will indicate within the corresponding values listed in the TI
limits columns listed in table 3 below.
(5) Repeat steps (2) through (4) above for the remaining values listed in table 3
below.
