(4) Add pure water to ice in container until a slush is formed.
(5) Insert TI into ice to proper depth, carefully packing ice around stem.
F = C x 9/5 + 32
C = 5/9(F - 32)
(6) After 3 minutes, lift TI slightly above ice and tap stem gently.
(7) Record TI temperature indication. If TI does not indicate 0 C (32 F) within the
scale deviation limits specified in column four, table 4, perform b below. Table 4 provides
rejection tolerance and acceptable scale deviations.
(8) Remove TI from container and empty water and ice from container.

Adjustments. Prepare a correction chart for TI specifying the scale correction at the ice
point.
