General Radio, Model WIOMT3AS3, Variable Power Transformer (fig. 1-38) is supplied with a three-wire cord and plug for
connection to 50-60 Hz, nominal 120 V ac power line. The third wire in the cord plug circuit provides automatic grounding of
external metal parts as a safety feature. No attempts should be made to operate the variac on dc current.
