CALIBRATION PROCESS
6. Preliminary Instructions
a. The instructions outlined in paragraphs 6 and 7 are preparatory to the calibration
process. Personnel should become familiar with the entire bulletin before beginning the
calibration.
b. Items of equipment used in this procedure are referenced within the text by common
c. Unless otherwise specified, verify the result of each test and, whenever the test
requirement is not met, take corrective action before continuing with the calibration.
Adjustments required to calibrate the TI are included in this procedure. Additional
maintenance information is contained in the manufacturers' manuals for this TI.
d. Unless otherwise specified, all control and control settings refer to the TI.
a. Clean all connectors and adapters connection points.
b. Power on the network analyzer and allow one hour warm-up time if not already on.
CAUTION
Use torque wrench when making connections to ensure the
connectors are not damaged.
CAUTION
Be careful when using the Network Analyzer with the cables as
excessive movement can result in damage to the cables and/or
cause bad readings.
c. Run system verification of the Network Analyzer using the following technique:
(1) Click the Response tab then Cal, Manage Cals and Cal Sets. Delete All and
close.
(2) Insert the Flash Drive from the Verification Kit into a USB slot.
(3) On the Utility Menu, select System, Service and System Verification.
(4) In the Calibration Kit screen, pick Agilent N4690A (Type N E-Cal).
(5) Under the Test Cable(s) screen, select Cable Pair (+Adapters).
(6) Click the Configure tab. Select the attenuators to be used: 20 db and 50 db
attenuators. The Airlines may also be run if the user is familiar with them.
(7) Go back to the Run screen and click Run on the bottom of the tab.
(8) Enter the serial numbers of the Calibration Kit and the Verification Kit when
prompted in the next screen, hit continue.
(9)Connect the E Cal module as shown in the diagram displayed on the screen. Pay
careful attention to the male and female connection locations. Port 1 is normally Type N
Female and port 2 Type N Male. Click OK.
