WARNING
Before initial use, or after transport, or after storage in humid
or semi-humid environments, or anytime the dry-well has not
been energized for more than 10 days, the instrument needs to
be energized for a "dry-out" period of 2 hours before it can be
assumed to meet all of the safety requirements. If the product
is wet or has been in a wet environment, take necessary
measures to remove moisture prior to applying power such as
storage in a low humidity environment or operating at 50 C
for 4 hours or more.
WARNING
HIGH VOLTAGE is used or exposed during the performance of
DEATH ON CONTACT may result if
personnel fail to observe safety precautions.
REDUCE
OUTPUT(S) to minimum after each step within the
performance checks where applicable.
WARNING
Before connecting TI, the protective earth terminal of the
instrument must be connected to the protective conductor of
the line power cord. The line plug shall only be inserted in a
socket outlet provided with a protective earth contact. The
protective action must not be negated by the use of an
extension cord (power cable) without a protective conductor
(grounding). Grounding one conductor of a two-conductor
outlet is not sufficient protection.
a. Set TI on a flat surface with at least 6 inches of clearance on all sides. Overhead
clearance should be significantly greater to allow for easy insertion/removal of probes and
to avoid fire.
b. Set both TI POWER switches to the on position simultaneously. Both switches
must be turned on within 3 seconds of each other or ERR 9, ICL (interconnect link) will
result.
c. Set TI to a safe (not hot) condition by pressing the keys as listed in (1) through (11)
below on both the hot and cold sides.
(1) EXIT (hold down momentarily to ensure that the TI is set to the temperature
display).
(2) SET three times (to access units, Fahrenheit or Celsius).
(3) UP or DOWN (to select UN= C).
(4) SET (to accept units and advance to Scan).
(5) UP or DOWN (to select SC=OFF).
(6) SET (to accept SC=OFF and advance to Scan Rate).
(7) UP or DOWN (to select SR=0.1).
(8) SET three times (to access the temperature set-point value).
(9) UP or DOWN (to change the temperature set-point value to a safe level of
approximately 23 C on the cold side and 50 C on the hot side).
