g. Set source II, III, OFF switch to II.
h. Ensure source LOW BATTERY LED is out. Replace battery if necessary.
i. Set source HIGH LOW switch to HIGH.
j.
Allow source, reference NVD detector standard and TI to stabilize for 25 minutes.
k. Characterize source by performing (1) through (7) below.
(1) Set source II, III, OFF switch to OFF after stabilization.
(2) Press ZERO on multimeter.
(3) Observe multimeter for one minute. Verify that reference NVD detector
standard noise level as indicated on multimeter is ≤ 0.17 mV.
(4) Set source II, III, OFF switch to II.
(5) Adjust source (see figure 1) to within 1% of the reference NVD detector
standard test report V(STD) value. Record multimeter indication.
NOTE
If reference NVD detector standard exceeds noise level or
adjustment cannot be made, return reference NVD detector
standard and/or source to APSL.
(6) Set reference NVD detector standard and source II, III, OFF switch to OFF.
(7) Remove reference NVD detector standard from source. Allow alignment collar to
stay in place.
8. Electro-Optical Gain Accuracy
a. Performance Check
(1) Connect TI as shown in figure 1, ensuring minimum light exposure.
(2) Allow TI one minute to stabilize from light exposure.
(3) Press ZERO on multimeter.
(4) Observe multimeter for one minute. Verify that TI noise level as indicated on
multimeter is ≤ 0.17 mV.
NOTE
Send TI to APSL for maintenance/repair if noise > 0.17 mV.
(5) Set source II, III, OFF switch to II and allow 2 minutes to stabilize.
CTUAL - NOMINAL
ERROR % = A
(6) Calculate TI error using the formula below.
NOMINAL
Where:
ACTUAL= TI indication
NOMINAL = True applied current
