18. FM Sensitivity, Accuracy, and Distortion
a. Performance Check
(1) Position controls as listed in (a) through (f) below:
(a) AM switch to OFF.
(b) FM k/MHz pushbutton pressed.
(c) PEAK DEVIATION switch to 320 kHz.
(d) FM control fully cw.
(e) RANGE MHz switch to 128 - 64.
(f) FM switch to AC.
(2) Connect equipment as shown in figure 7.
(3) Adjust FREQUENCY TUNE control for a FREQUENCY MHz display
indication of 64 MHz. Set RF OFF/ON switch to ON
(4) Press PRESET on measuring receiver. Set measuring receiver to measure FM
deviation.
(5) Set pulse generator for 1 kHz, 0.707 V rms output level. Press Out1 to ON. Set
the measuring receiver high-pass filter to 50 Hz, low-pass filter to 15 kHz, and use peak +
detector.
(6) Set PEAK DEVIATION switch to positions listed in table 29. If the measuring
receiver does not indicate as specified; perform b below.
(7) Repeat technique (3) and (6) above for the remaining settings in table 29.
