DEATH ON CONTACT may result if
personnel fail to observe safety precautions.
REDUCE
OUTPUT(S) to minimum after each step within the
performance check where applicable.
a. Remove TI from carrying case.
b. Place TI on a firm, level base and avoid large deposits of iron and magnetic fields.
a. Performance Check
(1) Connect LINE and GROUND terminals of TI together.
NOTE
The meter pointer may stand anywhere over the scale until TI
is operated.
(2) Rotate generator crank cw at normal operating speed. Meter will indicate ZERO.
NOTE
To obtain a correct indication on TI meter, the hand-operated
generator crank must be rotated cw at normal operating speed.
The generator reaches operating speed when centrifugal clutch
begins to slip.
(3) Disconnect shorting lead from LINE and GROUND terminals and rotate
generator crank. Meter pointer will indicate infinity.
(4) Connect resistance standard no. 1 between LINE and GROUND and set for 1 k .
(5) Set TI RANGE switch to . Rotate generator crank cw at normal operating
speed. If TI meter does not indicate between 950 and 1050, perform b below.
b. Adjustments. Adjust R11 (fig. 3) for 1 k
on meter.
a. Performance Check
(1) Connect multimeter positive dc terminal to GROUND terminal, and common
terminal to GUARD or SHIELD terminal.
(2) Set TI RANGE switch to 1000V M x2. Rotate generator crank cw at normal
speed. If multimeter does not indicate 1000 V dc 25 V dc perform b (1) below.
(3) Set TI RANGE switch to 500 V M . Rotate generator crank cw at normal
speed. If multimeter does not indicate 500 V dc 25 V dc, perform b (2) below.
