CAUTION
Before connecting TI to power source, make sure TI is set to the
power source line voltage as shown on rear of TI.
a. Connect serial interface assembly (P/N: T1678), to the instrument controller and TI
with wide flat cable between the TI rear panel SERIAL I/O connector and the P1
connector on the T1678 serial interface PCB.
NOTE
If using Special Purpose Cable locally procured, connect to
COM1 or COM2 connector on the instrument controller and the TI
rear panel SERIAL I/O connector.
b. Connect the narrow flat cable between the P2 (TERM) connector on the T1678 serial
interface PCB and the COM1 or COM2 connector on the instrument controller. Use the
RJ11 to DB-9 or RJ11 to B-25 adapter, provided with the T1678 serial interface assembly,
to make the connection at the instrument controller.
c. Set the instrument controller with Windows operations system to interface with the
TI as listed in (1) through (6) below:
(1) Start/Programs/Accessories/ communications/highlight the HyperTerminal
menu.
(2) Select HyperTerminal to start the HyperTerminal program bringing up the New
Connection window.
(3) In the Connection Description box, type a name for the new connection then
click the OK button.
(4) In the Connect using: pull down select: Com "_"; select the number of the

Bits per second, 19200.
(b)
Data bits, 8.
(c)
Parity, None.
(d)
Stop Bits, 1.

Flow control, Xon/Xoff.

Press <ENTER> .
(6) Verify the $ prompt appears on the instrument controller display.
