13. Temperature Calibration
a. Performance Check
CAUTION
Do not turn off cool/heat source at temperatures higher than
100 C. This may create a hazardous situation. Select a set-
point lower than 100 C and allow the instrument to cool before
turning off.
NOTE
Perform this check if temperature probe is supplied with TI. If
not TI will receive a special calibration label(DA163) stating
that Temperature not calibrated.
NOTE
For this performance check, if the TI can be inserted to the
bottom of the wells of the cool/heat source, the cool/heat source
may act as the standard. If the TI cannot be inserted to the
bottom of the well use the thermometer listed in table 2 as a
comparison standard. Ensure that thermometer and TI are
inserted into cool/heat source cold/hot block to the same depth.
(1) Set the rotary switch to TEMP and C. Connect TI Temperature Probe to TEMP
V R and COM terminals.
(2) Insert TI K type thermocouple and standard thermometer into cool/heat source
cold block. Use support stand(s) to ensure TI and standard thermometer are
inserted to the same depth.
(3) Adjust cool/heat source to first calibration point table 8, and allow sufficient time
for TI and/or cool/heat source / standard thermometer to stabilize. TI will
indicate within the limits of table 8, if not perform b below
(4) Repeat technique of (3) above for remaining temperatures listed in table 8. TI
will indicate within the limits of table 8, if not perform b below
(5) Set the cool/heat source to 25 C and allow it to cool down.
