a. Performance Check
NOTE
When verifying the DC Current functions, some TIs may
indicate a reverse polarity. At the discretion of the technician,
reverse the connection of the TI to the coil, or reverse the
polarity of the Meter Calibrator output, to achieve the correct
indications.
(1) Set the Digital Multimeter Function and Range as required to measure the
values listed in the appropriate table(s) (appendix B) for the TI Min/ Max, columns.
(2) Set the Ammeter Calibrator to the first value in the Ammeter Calibrator Range.
(3) Connect applicable Coil to the applicable Ammeter Calibrator Output connector
corresponding to the first range listed in the Ammeter Calibrator Range column.
NOTE
Center the TI jaws around the Coil windings. If readings are
out of tolerance move the clamp around on the coil. Once a
good spot is founded try and keep the clamp in the same spot
around the coil. Inspect the jaw-mating surface for cleanliness.
If any foreign material is present, the jaw will not close
properly and measurement errors will result.
(4) Clamp TI around the Coil.
(5) Set TI controls for the first range listed in the TI Range column if necessary.
(6) Set the Calibrator for the first value listed in the Calibrator Applied column and
set OPR/STBY switch to OPR.
(7) Press Ammeter Calibrator OPERATE pushbutton.
NOTE
If an overcompliance is obtained on the 2 mA to 20 mA ac
ranges of the Ammeter Calibrator, move to the next range and
adjust the calibrator output to give the same current on the
next higher range.
(8) The Multimeter must indicate within the corresponding values listed in the Min
and Max column.
(9) Press Ammeter Calibrator STANDBY pushbutton.
Set the Calibrator
OPR/STBY switch to STBY.
(10)Repeat technique of (1) through (9) above for the remaining settings in the
appropriate table for the TI.
(11)Set Calibrator output to minimum.
b. Adjustments. For Model i400s and Model 80i-500s, see appendix C; for all others,
no adjustment can be made.
