IDENTIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION
This bulletin provides instructions for the
1. Test Instrument Identification.
calibration of Spectrum Analyzer AN/USM-489(V)1 (Tektronix, Type 492 w/options 01, 02,
03, 08, and 21). The manufacturer's manual was used as the prime data source in
compiling these instructions. The equipment being calibrated will be referred to as the TI
(test instrument) throughout this bulletin.
a. Model Variations. Variations among models are included in text.
b. Time and Technique. The time required for this calibration is approximately 8
hours, using the dc and lo frequency technique.
2. Forms, Records, and Reports. Forms, records and reports required for calibration
personnel at all levels are prescribed by TB 750-25.
3. Calibration Description. TI parameters and performance specifications which
pertain to this calibration are listed in table 1.
Table 1. Calibration Description.
Test instrument parameters
Performance specifications
Center frequency
Range : (Internal mixer) 50 kHz to 21 GHz
Accuracy : (5 MHz + 20% of span/div) n or after 2 hour warm-up (0.2%
of center frequency + 20% of span/div) whichever is greater
Readout resolution: Within 1 MHz
Residual FM (short term) after
< (1 kHz peak to peak) n for a period of 20 ms (n is the first LO harmonic
number used in the first mixer conversion and related to the selected
2 hour warm-up (SN B030000
frequency range (band))
and up)
